Updated this week

To support transparency and build trust with property seekers, Homepass has introduced a new “Turn to Screen” step when manually checking in visitors at inspections.

This ensures guests are informed about how their personal information is collected and used — right at the point of entry.

What is “Turn to Screen”?

When you manually add a new contact in the Homepass app, a Privacy Collection Notice will now appear before the check-in is completed.

At this step:

  1. Simply turn your device to the guest.

  2. The guest can read the notice explaining how their details are used.

  3. They then tap “Confirm and check me in” to finish the check-in.

This gives guests a clear opportunity to review and acknowledge the information themselves.

Why is this being introduced?

This update is designed to:

  • Increase transparency
Guests can clearly see how their personal information is used at the time it is collected.

  • Create a consistent experience
Manual check-ins now match the same process used in Kiosk and QR code check-ins.

  • Provide active acknowledgement
The guest personally confirms they have reviewed the Privacy Collection Notice.

  • Meet modern consumer expectations
Property seekers increasingly expect clarity around how their data is handled.

Benefits for Your Agency

Using Turn to Screen helps your agency by:

  • Demonstrating professional standards
You show guests that your agency takes privacy seriously.

  • Reducing confusion
Guests know why they may receive property information or market insights after checking in.

  • Improving engagement
Informed guests are more receptive to follow-ups like digital property brochures.

  • Keeping inspections fast and paper-free
The process remains quick, simple, and fully digital — even in face-to-face situations.

Important Compliance Notice

The Turn to Screen feature presents a Privacy Collection Notice, but:

  • Your agency remains solely responsible for compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and any other applicable laws.

  • Homepass is not a compliance tool.

  • Agencies must ensure they have their own:

    • Privacy policies

    • Data handling procedures

    • Legal advice appropriate to their business
